Located in Uluwatu, Bali, the westernmost edge of the Bukit peninsula, The Asa Maia is an intimate wellness resort with 10 guest suites arrayed around an airy central pavilion. The central court features a vast outdoor dining area overlooking the salt-water pool. A footpath leads guests to a dramatic, rock-hewn firepit surrounded by sculptural limestone seating slabs. The main building houses the spa, a library, a boutique, a gym, a consultation room, and a spacious yoga shala on the upper level. - The suites are century-old wood structures also known as Gladaks – traditional, hand-hewn, vernacular Javanese homes. Each Gladak was hand-picked in East Java, painstakingly disassembled, carefully transported and reassembled on-site.
