Designed by noted architect, Ed Tuttle, Amankila is comprised of 34 free-standing suites, nine with private pools, that are spaciously set on the tropical hillside property. All have appealing views (ocean and garden) and all are raised on stilts with alang-alang thatching. Feeling more like a one-bedroom house, than a hotel suite – definitely part of the appeal. Each suite also has a living area with day bed, a large bathroom with deep tub, lots of natural light, and an outdoor terrace.
The semi-covered terrace is a favored spot, perfect for a morning coffee as the sun rises, a healthy lunch with sea views, a sunset cocktail, through to an in-room massage.
While it is easy to spend the majority of time cocooned in privacy, there is also two charming restaurants, the beach club, and a bar that has fabulous views of the sunset.
